35th annual Greater Indianapolis CROP Hunger Walk
(Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty)
Sunday October 19 at 1:30 p.m.
42nd and Michigan Road—Christian Theological Seminary Route: 3.5 miles through the Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood
The CROP Hunger Walk raises funds and awareness to help fight hunger around the world and around the corner. The funds will benefit the overall work and ministry of Church World Service. One fourth of what we raise here in Speedway will go to local agencies including Gleaners Food Bank, Mid-West Food Bank, St Vincent DePaul Society Distribution Center and Second Helpings. ( By the way did you know Second Helpings provides food for our Child Care lunches here at Speedway UMC.)
Speedway UMC has set a goal of 10 walkers and hopes to raise $1,000.00 to help stop hunger and poverty here in our community and around the world. Last year we had 10 walkers and raised $817.00, which was about double the amount from the previous year!! We were among 531 walkers in the greater Indianapolis area who raised an overall amount of $80,000. Mark your calendar and join us.
