Youth Ministry

A place for teens to belong, ask hard questions, and grow in faith. Families are always welcome here.

A place to ask hard questions

At Speedway United Methodist Church, our Youth Ministry equips young people to grow in their faith, develop leadership skills, and make a lasting impact in their church and community. We believe youth are not just the future of the church, they are leaders today.

All Youth Are Welcome

Come get involved and grow with us!

At Speedway United Methodist Church, our Youth Ministry equips young people to grow in their faith, develop leadership skills, and make a lasting impact in their church and community. We believe youth are not just the future of the church, they are leaders today.

Open to youth ages 11-18 (grades 6-12), our group meets on select Sunday afternoons and evenings, with dates and times based on planned activities. Through fellowship, service, fundraising, and special events, youth are encouraged to take initiative, work as a team, and develop confidence as servant leaders.

Throughout the year, youth have opportunities to help plan events, lead service projects, support church ministries, and participate in fundraising efforts that make future activities possible. We organize at least two community service projects, two fundraisers, and two special events annually, providing hands-on experience in leadership, responsibility, and community engagement.

In 2024, our youth demonstrated leadership by serving at the church’s Easter Egg Hunt, assisting local homeowners through Speedway Home Helpers, and helping prepare the church grounds for the Indianapolis 500 parking fundraiser. They also organized and supported successful fundraising events, including a car wash and bake sale.

Special events in 2024 and 2025 included a rock-climbing lock-in at Hoosier Heights Indianapolis, park activities, games, and more. These experiences encourage teamwork, strengthen friendships, and help youth grow as confident Christian leaders.

All youth are welcome. Our ministry provides a safe, supportive environment where teens can build meaningful relationships, discover their gifts, serve others, and grow as disciples of Christ.

Adult volunteers are also an essential part of our ministry. Whether helping coordinate activities, providing meals, assisting with transportation, mentoring youth, supporting service projects, or serving as event chaperones, volunteers help create meaningful experiences that strengthen our young people in faith and leadership. If you have a heart for working with youth, we welcome your involvement.

To ensure the safety of all participants and comply with the United Methodist Church’s Safe Sanctuaries policies, youth participants, parents/guardians, and volunteers are asked to complete the required forms below. Completing the youth forms does not commit a child to attend specific events but will add the family to our youth ministry email list to receive updates about upcoming activities, service opportunities, and leadership experiences.
